Statue de la Liberté

It's a Liberty parade! French Club members have been having fun learning all about the Statue of Liberty. Did you know . . . it was a gift from France to the United States to celebrate the 100th anniversary of our independence from Great Britain . . . it was built in France and then taken apart and sent by ship in over 200 crates . . . it was engineered by Gustave Eiffel who later designed the Eiffel Tower . . . it is based on Libertas, the Roman goddess of liberty . . . it is made of copper and is green from the evaporation of the sea water surrounding it . . . it is over 305 feet from the ground to the top of the torch . . . it's official name is "Liberty Enlightening the World"?
