Artistes du 10ième Âge
Tenth Agers have just finished writing about paintings by French artists. Each student was given a different artist's painting to study, draw, and to describe in this month's French folder paper. Drawings and the accompanying papers will soon be on display outside the French classroom. Here is a sneak preview of some of our talented French students' work:

In Monet's Garden
7th Agers have been learning all about French painter, Claude Monet. Monet lived from 1840 to 1926 and is known around the world as one of the founders of the painting style called Impressionism. Monet's private garden became the focus of his paintings as he grew older. His famous Japanese bridge and waterlily pond are visited by approximately 500,000 people each year. This week, 7th Agers are "visiting" Monet's garden as they watch the movie of the children's classic story by the same name, Linnea in Monet's Garden.

C'est Fromage!
Speaking of cheese ... 8th Agers have been learning many interesting facts about France. Did you know that over 300 different cheeses are made in France from the milk of cows, sheeps, and goats? Students were treated to a special cheese-tasting in French class this week. They tasted three kinds of French cheese: brie, camembert, and chèvre. After each sampling, students recorded their likes/dislikes in French by saying J'aime beaucoup (I like a lot), J'aime (I like), J'aime un peu (I like a little), and Je n'aime pas (I do not like). Here are few of their opinions:

French is Everywhere!
Since the beginning of the school year, 9th Agers have been in search of all things French. Turns out they don't have to look too far - it's everywhere: on food labels, game instructions, magazine covers, perfume bottles, shampoo containers, restaurant menus, clothing labels, toys, household products; as well as in words that we use in English, ... it's truly everywhere!

C'est Moi
9th Agers recently wrote about themselves in French using vocabulary and phrases learned in class. Students are able to tell their names, where they live, what languages they speak, how many siblings they have, their favorite class, their favorite season, their nationality, and their age. Here are some samples. Click on each one to get a closer look at each student's French descriptions and Calvert script.
