International Week was a grand success this year with many activities, visitors, and delicious food. Each day focused on a language and its culture. This year we celebrated Spanish, Greek, Italian, Hebrew, and French. Here are some highlights from French Day:

Black History Month à la Française
As part of Black History month, a special exhibit in the foreign language hallway of the Lower School features accomplished French-speaking men and women of black descent from around the world. Each week of February has had a different theme: politicians, artists and entertainers, writers and poets; and this last week, athletes. Some of the many countries represented by people in this exhibit are: France, Canada, Belgium, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Martinique, Cameroon, Senegal, Djbouti, Mali, Burundi, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, and Seychelles.
Places, Everyone!
Ninth Agers have been learning about buildings and shops found in a French town. Each student created his/her own version of one of these places. Students are now writing a folder paper, all in French, about their buildings. These creative projects are currently on display in the Lower School library. Here are a few samples:

French . . . The Language of Love
Today was the first meeting of this year's Winter/Spring French Club. Students had fun eating mini chocolate eclairs and heart-shaped cookies and drinking juice out of miniature Eiffel Towers. All of this helped get in the mood for some Valentine crafting à la française. Families of French Club members, be on the lookout for a special gift coming your way.
