Colorful Creatures

10th Agers are learning about body parts and possessive adjectives. After completing the sentences below with the correct French word for "my", students drew a creature to fit the description.

Ma tête est grande.

Ma bouche est rouge.

Mes oreilles sont bleues.

Mon nez est violet.

Mes joues sont roses.

Mes dents sont jaunes.

Mes yeux sont verts.

Mon cou est gris.

 



 

Haiti

This year during International Week, French Day will focus on the French-speaking country of Haiti. Students will be exposed to the music, food, traditions, and crafts of this Caribbean country.



 



Quel Temps Fait-il?

8th Agers have known how to describe the weather verbally since the 7th Age. They are currently learning how to write what they know how to say. Just like when learning their first language, students learn how the language sounds and how it is used verbally before they learn how to read and write.Students are now creating books with pictures and written French weather expressions.

 

Bon Appétit!

French Club members became French chefs for the day measuring, mixing, cracking eggs, etc. to make crêpe batter to take home and cook for their families. After making their batter, students enjoyed eating delicious crêpes made by Madame Cooke. They enjoyed a variety of flavors: jambon (ham), fromage (cheese), framboises (rasberries), citron et sucre (lemon and sugar), and chocolat (chocolate). Délicieux!

Artistes du 10ième Âge

Tenth Agers have just finished writing about paintings by French artists. Each student was given a different artist's painting to study, draw, and to describe in this month's French folder paper. Drawings and the accompanying papers will soon be on display outside the French classroom. Here is a sneak preview of some of our talented French students' work:

 



 

In Monet's Garden

7th Agers have been learning all about French painter, Claude Monet. Monet lived from 1840 to 1926 and is known around the world as one of the founders of the painting style called Impressionism. Monet's private garden became the focus of his paintings as he grew older. His famous Japanese bridge and waterlily pond are visited by approximately 500,000 people each year. This week, 7th Agers are "visiting" Monet's garden as they watch the movie of the children's classic story by the same name, Linnea in Monet's Garden.
